Road Test Day
What Road Test Day includes
Road Test Day costs $195. The service normally includes instructor time, training vehicle use, travel, a brief warm-up, and test day support.
The warm-up usually lasts about 15 to 30 minutes. Warm-up timing depends on traffic, arrival time, check-in, and the testing provider schedule. Road Test Day customers must arrive prepared — the warm-up is for brief review and preparation, not complete instruction on every driving skill.
Start Right does not guarantee a passing result. DMV and third-party testing fees remain separate.
Cancellations and retests
A customer cancellation made at least 24 hours before Road Test Day does not result in a Start Right cancellation fee. A cancellation made less than 24 hours before Road Test Day results in the full $195 charge. A Road Test Day no-show results in the full $195 charge.
When the DMV or testing provider cancels, Start Right reschedules the service without another Start Right charge.
When the student fails the test, another Road Test Day is a separate paid service. A student who does not pass may receive a one-time $50 discount on a second Road Test Day booked within 30 days — the discounted retest price is $145. The one-time retest discount applies once per student. After 30 days, the regular $195 price applies. Testing and licensing fees remain separate during a retest.
Safety decision on Road Test Day
Start Right may refuse use of the training vehicle when the instructor determines that the student cannot operate the vehicle safely or is not ready to attempt the road test. The scheduled appointment becomes a driving lesson and skills assessment.
The full $195 charge still applies because instructor time, vehicle time, travel, and the reserved appointment were provided. A future road test requires a new Road Test Day booking. The instructor has final authority over training vehicle use.
Documents, eligibility, and provider delays
Students are responsible for bringing all required documents and meeting DMV or testing provider eligibility requirements. Students should confirm required documents and eligibility with Start Right at least 24 hours before the appointment. Failure to confirm does not automatically cancel the appointment.
When the student cannot test because documents are missing or eligibility requirements are not met, the full $195 Road Test Day charge applies. When the DMV or testing provider causes the problem, Start Right reschedules without another Start Right charge. A documented emergency is reviewed case by case.
Start Right is not responsible for delays, cancellations, fees, or scheduling changes caused by the DMV or a third-party testing provider. Testing provider delays may reduce the available warm-up time. Priority is given to protecting the scheduled road test appointment and check-in time. No refund or credit is required for reduced warm-up time caused by the testing provider. When a Start Right delay reduces the promised service, Start Right provides replacement time or an appropriate credit.
